The Shaper

Founder and father of Munro + Sons , Brett Munro fell in love with the ocean at an early age growing up on the beaches of NZ. Learning to shape in Whangamata under mentors Kingsley ‘Knackers’ Kernouski, Bob Davies, the late Al Burns, and Rod ‘Grub’ Dahlberg.

Brett, Tagged ‘Munzie’ by his mates, honed his craft as the evolution of surfboard design was gearing up in the early 70’s. His passion and love of the sea had him chasing swell all over the south pacific and throughout Asia in a quest to make the perfect board for the perfect wave.

After moving to Oz in the summer of ’81, Brett established Prana Surfboards out of an old banana shed in Coffs Harbour. Eventually settling in Byron Bay with its world class local breaks and community of watercraft manufacturers, Brett quickly forged a strong reputation for quality and service and garnered a loyal following.
