About Brett Munro

Brett has been hand shaping surfboards for the past 35 years or so.
Starting out as an understudy to the talented KKK (Kingsley "Knackers" Kernoski) in Whangamata, New Zealand around 1974, Brett moved on to a 6 year partnership in Saltwater Surfboards in that popular NZ surfing town.

Moving to Coffs Harbour, Australia in 1981, he established Prana Surfboards.
In 1993, Brett sold Prana and moved to beautiful Byron Bay - starting up the Heart 'n' Soul and Munro Surfboard labels.

Brett has travelled the surfing world extensively, with favourite breaks including Tavarua in Fiji; Padang in Bali; and Macoronis in the Mentawis. He is also well travelled throughout Australia and New Zealand - with some of his favourites being on the NW coast of Australia (which shall remain nameless!). Sure helps if you're a goofy-foot!

He has shaped a wide range of designs since the 70's - all with a focus on performance. Surfers on his boards have taken home multiple Australian and professional titles - including Beau Young's two world longboard titles.

Brett is currently developing a high performance Retro shortboard range, in addition to his widely established long and short board ranges.
